This Rolex watch is in great vintage condition, consistent with age. The case is in good condition with normal signs of wear. The inside caseback is stamped "1675". The numbers are clearly visible between the lugs. The blue-back, later bezel insert is in great condition with normal wear; the red portion has faded slightly. The dial is in overall good, attractive condition and has developed some patina. When looking closely it has a couple drag marks from 4 - 6 o'clock and a couple marks in the center of the dial that can be hard to notice. The dial has some wear around the edge. The lume on the dial has aged to a lovely creamy color and some plots show signs of degradation. The hands are later, Luminova, service replacements. This watch features a 78360 bracelet with no. 580 end links and 13 links. The clasp is stamped "EO1" indicating it is from 2007. The oyster bracelet is in great overall condition with normal wear and a little stretch between the links which is not uncommon.
The GMT Master is Rolex's signature pilot's watch, complete with dual-time capabilities. It came to market in 1955, with ref. 1675 following shortly after in 1959. It's one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex watches on the secondary market because it's instantly recognizable with its 24-hour bezel and dedicated GMT hand. The Rolex 1675 was also notably the first GMT Master to use crown guards. Rolex initially used glossy dials in the 1675 until around 1966 and switched to matte dials.
This GMT has what collectors refer to as a Mark 4 dial and the defining characteristic of this is the tall coronet and the placement of the "M" in "Master" over the "C" in chronometer, it lines up to the center of the “C.” GMTs are some of the most sought after vintage sport Rolex watches and vintage watches in general and we just see demand rising.
