This GMT is in overall great, attractive vintage condition. The case is in overall good, honest condition with wear, scratches and nicks throughout. The bevels on the lugs are still visible; the case appears to be unpolished. The inside caseback is stamped "1675 II.67." The numbers are clearly visible between both sets of lugs. The bezel ring has remained sharp. The beautiful “fat font” fuchsia bezel has wear, scratches and fading; the top portion has faded out mostly and presents as a silverish color (can have hints of blue still, depending on lighting) and the bottom has faded a bit and still is fuchsia colored. The back of the bezel is fuchsia colored. This watch has retained its correct date wheel with closed 6s and hooked 7s. The dial is in great condition with light patina and some wear around the edge. The lume has developed patina and aged to a pleasing pale yellow color; the lume plots show signs of degradation. The hands have developed patina and the lume in the hands has been color corrected/ relumed to match the color of the lume on the dial. This watch has a rolled/ folded jubilee bracelet with 19 links and no. 55 end links. The clasp is date stamped “2 67” indicating it’s from 1967. The bracelet is in overall good, honest condition with wear and scratches; it has some stretch between the links which is not uncommon for this style bracelet.
The GMT Master is Rolex's signature pilots watch, complete with dual-time capabilities. It came to market in 1955, with ref. 1675 following shortly after in 1959. It's one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex watches on the secondary market because of its instantly recognizable with its 24-hour bezel and dedicated GMT hand. The Rolex 1675 was also notably the first GMT Master to use crown guards. Rolex initially used glossy dials in the 1675 until around 1966 and switched to matte dials.
This circa 1967 example is in overall beautiful condition with it's nicely aged “fat font” fuchsia bezel. Collectors refer to this dial variation as a Mark I "Long E." When looking at the "Rolex" text on the dial the "E" has a longer central bar (same length as the top and bottom ones) and that is where this nickname comes from. Rolex made many different variations of the 1675 and this example has a "fuchsia" bezel which gives the watch a completely different look compared to the more common blue & red "Pepsi."
