Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master II ref 16713 (2000) hails from the second generation of GMT Master IIs, which came to market in the late 1980s. For those unfamiliar, the first GMT Master II, ref. 16760, introduced the series to an independent GMT hand. This upgrade initially required a thicker movement and a thicker case. With the 1671X generation, Rolex thinned out the caliber powering the independent GMT hand and the case. Ref. 16713 is the two-tone version of that improved and thinned-out watch. It remained in production until the first wave of ceramic-bezel watches came to market in the 2000s, making it a prized collector's item among those in the know. The example you see here is from circa 2000 and features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, Super-LumiNova, and the caliber 3185.
