This watch is in great vintage, honest vintage condition. The case is strong with scratches, wear, and some nicks; it appears to have been polished and the bevels are still visible. The center of the caseback shows some scratches and wear; it also has a light hand-engraving that we think says "24-4-72 BLB MLN." The bezel ring has remained sharp and the insert has aged to a lovely dark grey/ bluish color (this can be hard to notice depending on the lighting). The pip in the bezel is a later replacement. The correct, twin-lock crown shows some wear and indentations. The matte dial is in great condition and has developed light patina. The hands have developed patina and the lume has aged to a pale yellow color that is a bit lighter than the lume on the dial. The minute hand has a spot of lume repair towards the base. The hour markers have aged into a lovely sandy/ beige color.
Pre-owned Tudor Submariner ref 7016/0 (1968) Tudor released its first Sub in 1954, shortly after its cousin, Rolex, debuted its own Submariner collection. Ref. 7016/0 is a product of the late 1960s, during which several iterations of the watch came to market. Additionally, it was notably produced alongside ref. 7021/0, which featured a date mechanism on the dial, while reference 7016/0 kept it simple with an understated time-only dial. It offers water resistance up to 200 meters, operates on automatic winding technology, and sports Tritium lume on the dial - a lovely example of the vintage Tudor Sub.
Variations: Tudor produced ref. 7016/0 with five different dials before it was discontinued in the mid-1970s - the Rose dial, Maxi Rose dial, Tudor Shield with dot hour markers, and the Tudor shield with Snowflake hands and square hour markers - the latter of which was produced in black or blue. The example you see here was the last of the Tudor Subs to feature the iconic "Rose" logo on the dial before Tudor brought it back for modern collections. It also sports a desirable "lollipop" seconds hand featuring a larger-than-usual luminous plot on the tip and classic Mercedes hands.
