Rolex Air-King 5501 - Steel and Gold
The Air-King was introduced in 1945 and was a part of the Rolex "Air" series, which also included the Air-Lion, Air-Grant, and Air-tiger. Of all of these models, the Air-King is the only model still in production today. Most famous for being the watch that was given to British Royal Airforce pilots, this incredible watch is built for the air, land, or sea. The two-tone vintage reference 5501 that is seen here features a stainless steel 34mm Oyster case that is built to withstand high altitudes as well as depths of up to 330 feet, making it an ideal companion for military pilots. This reference was introduced in 1958 along with a calibre 1530 self-winding movement and was designed specifically for the US, UK, and Commonwealth markets. Making this vintage watch a rare find and adding to its unique history.
