The Sea-Dweller was the logical next-evolution from Submariner, with a much higher water resistance and a calendar without the Cyclops bubble because of the, now, domed plexi-crystal. This, more robust Dive watch was the pinnacle of dive technology when it was introduced in 1967. The new helium escape valve allowed gas to escape the case during a deep dive and prevents possible damage to the crystal from the extreme pressures. From its thicker case to the impressive depth rating, the Sea-Dweller has secured it place in the history books for being durable and dependable.
This 1665 "Great White" Sea-Dweller is a great piece. Housing a 1570 dependable and workhorse movement, the case is sharp and strong having been recently polished. The dial, with its all-white writing (hence “Great White”) is crisp and clear while the hour markers have a nice creamy patina to them giving this timepiece a nice vintage and aged look. Complimenting that look is the period correct date disk which is a beautiful brushed silver. The head is presented to you on a complimentary modern-style rubber strap.
