Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master ref 16700 (1991) was among the last GMT Master watches ever produced before the collection was shelved for good in the late 1990s. Interestingly, it was made for about a decade, overlapping production with its successor, the GMT Master II, and providing collectors a lot of value when buying a famous Rolex GMT pilot's watch. It had a nearly identical design set as the GMT Master II but with a non-independent 24-hour hand. Furthermore, ref. 16700 introduced many important updates to the original collection, including a more resilient scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, a newer caliber 3175 Perpetual movement, and a new case design. And while some of its predecessors also had applied white gold hour markers, it was a staple on ref. 16700. In addition to being a coveted Pepsi Rolex, ref. 16700 is an excellent chance to add a history-rich Rolex to your watch box for a competitive price.
