The newer-model Datejust Thunderbird represents watchmaking technologies, both old and new, making it an intriguing collector's item. When it debuted in the 1950s, the Thunderbird, or "Turn-o-Graph", was the first serially-produced timepiece in the Rolex catalog to offer a rotatable timing bezel. This feature paved the way for Rolex's professional series that includes such luxury watch giants as the Submariner and GMT Master, and is of immense horological importance. The ref. 116264 pairs the classic rotatable bezel with a newer case and bracelet, a chronometer-rated calibre 3135 Perpetual movement, and a White Rolesor finish of 904L-grade Oystersteel and 18 karat white gold. The time is displayed on a contrasting blue dial topped with a sporty red seconds hand and date wheel.
