The Rolex Air-King is a member of the brand's Air Series of watches that also included the Air-Giant, Air-Tiger, and Air-Lion. All of these models, except for the Air-King have since been discontinued, which makes the Air-King a particularly sought-after collector's item. The ref. 5501 that is presented here today is a vintage two-tone variant of the line that boasts a stainless steel and 14 karat yellow gold finish, a caliber 1520 perpetual movement with 19,800 bph, an acrylic crystal, and Tritium luminous material on the dial in an attractive patina. The modest 34mm Oyster case is worn on a flat-link Oyster bracelet, creating a sophisticated hold on the wrist.
