Cartier developed it in the early 1900s for friend and aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont to replace the pilot's pocket watch with a more convenient wrist-worn timepiece for aviation, and the Santos was born. With such prestigious origins, it's no wonder why the Santos remains one of Cartier's most sought-after watches. It also has a very enduring quality about it because not much about its core design has changed since coming to market over a century ago - the collection still sports a square-shaped case, a bezel decorated with visible screws, and a blue cabochon crown, and a Roman numeral dial.
