This Oyster Perpetual is in overall great vintage condition. The case is in good condition with normal signs of wear. The inside caseback is stamped "6567 IV.57." It was not uncommon for Rolex to use a difference reference caseback that fits since multiple watches could use the same components. Between the lugs show some wear and the numbers are still visible. The crown appears to be a later replacement. The dial is in attractive condition and has developed patina throughout. The hour markers and hands have developed patina. The lume on the dial has developed patina and darkened. The hands are later tritium replacements. This watch has a C&I USA rivet Oyster expanding bracelet with 11 links; the clasp is dated "7 58" indicating it's from 1958. The bracelet is in overall great condition with light stretch and normal signs of wear; the bracelet still has tension between the links.
Each timepiece in the Rolex brand is so well-made that many watches often last a lifetime and are cherished family heirlooms. The vintage Oyster Perpetual ref. 6565 is an early model that was produced in the late 1950's. This example is in two-tone and has developed a lovely and unique patina on the dial.
When examining the movement we can see "ROW" engraved which was the US import code for Rolex at the time, meaning this watch was destined for the United States market. This watch also comes on a C&I USA bracelet which makes sense since it was a US destined watch - we love when details like this line up!
These 34mm OPs offer a great value and were originally intended for a mans wrist, but would be great for anyone.
