This GMT is in overall great vintage condition consistent with age. The case is in great, honest condition with some scratches and nicks; it may have been lightly polished. The bevels are still visible. The back of caseback is stamped "16750". The numbers are clearly visible and crisp between the lugs. The blue-back "Pepsi" is in great condition with light wear; the colors have remained vibrant. The dial is in overall good, attractive condition. It has developed a textured patina throughout and has more of a matted appearance; this can be hard to notice depending on the lighting. The hour markers and hands have developed patina. The lume in the hands and on the dial has aged to an attractive creamy, off white color; the lume in the GMT hand has remained more white in color. This has a 78360 stainless steel Oyster bracelet has 11 links and no. 580 end links. The clasp is stamped "I12" indicating it is from 1984. The bracelet is in overall good condition with some scratches / wear and some stretch between the links which is not uncommon.
Rolex produced the GMT Master 16750 for about 7 years from 1981 to 1988. During that time, the watch became available with either a glossy or matte dial. The glossy variant had white gold-trimmed indices, while the matte edition did not. The watch we have here is from 1984 and would have been one of the earlier glossy dial variants with the "white gold-trimmed" hour markers. This reference is considered transitional because Rolex upgraded the movement, it now has a quick-set date, but kept the matte dial (on early examples) and acrylic crystal like the previous reference 1675. Rolex also used open 6s and 9s in the date, adding to the vintage charm.
