As with every watch that Rolex produces, this ref. 116900 is a highly sophisticated timepiece, offering a chronometer-rated calibre 3131 perpetual movement, a resilient Oystersteel finish, and a Chromalight display. Technically, the 6-digit reference is an impeccable timepiece. Where it loses some avid Air-King collectors is its obvious departure from the original model. The case is larger, measuring 40mm and features a dial that mirrors the style of cockpit instruments. While this choice is a nod towards its history as a pilot's watch, many collectors prefer the subtle dial of the classic models. Some may also find this upgrade exciting, as it brings the 1940's Air-King into the modern era. Description of watch was actually understated in a good way. Rolex was in even better condition than advertised I assume in an attempt to manage expectations which were happily exceeded.
