This Tudor Submariner is in great, honest vintage condition with wear consistent with age. The case is in good condition with scratches, nicks, and wear; the bevels are still visible. The case appears to be unpolished. The numbers are clearly visible between the lugs. The text on the caseback is still clearly visible and crisp. This watch has retained its correct non-triplock crown and it shows some wear. The bezel ring has remained sharp and the "long 5" bezel insert has faded throughout and has scratches/ wear; the pip is a later replacement. The dial is in overall great condition and has developed a fine textured patina throughout. The lume on the dial has developed patina and aged to a beige-yellow color; some plots have developed darker patina and show signs of degradation. The hands have developed patina and the lume in the hands has been color corrected/ relumed to match the color of the lume on the dial. The watch has a stainless C+I Rolex Oyster stretch bracelet with 11 links and the clasp stamped "1-64". The bracelet is in great condition with normal signs of wear and light stretch between the links.
The reference 7928 was introduced in 1959. Here we have a beautiful Tudor Submariner from circa 196X. This example has aged nicely over the years and has taken on an interesting and unique patina. From the bezel to the dial, you won't find another one exactly like this one.
This watch has a few stand out features that are worth mentioning. First off this is of the chapter ring variation which is always a treat to come across; we love the combination of the gilt colored chapter ring with the silver text. The dial has the "self-winding" is in an upward arch and collectors refer to this as a "smiley." Tudor used this detail in some of the modern Black Bay watches so its nice to see the history of this detail. The dial also features a "Rose" logo which is something Tudor stopped doing around 1969 when they went to the shield logo.
This Tudor is one of the best vintage examples I have seen in a long time. Thank you Bob's for the great timepiece. The watch looks even better in person!
