This Tudor is in overall great, honest vintage condition. The case is strong with normal signs of wear, scratches, and some nicks. The writing on the caseback is still in tact. The inside caseback is stamped "I.72" and the numbers are crisp between the lugs. The stainless steel bezel is in overall good condition with wear with nicks around the edge. The watch has one service replacement pusher at 4 o'clock. The watch has retained its correct, non-triplock crown (no 3 dots). The dial is in excellent condition with light patina/ wear; colors have remained vibrant. When looking at the dial closely, the edge of the date window shows some wear; this can be hard to notice. The lume is in great condition with light patina; it is a white marshmallow color. The hands have developed patina and the lume in the hands have aged to a similar color as the lume on the dial. The stainless-steel 78360 oyster bracelet has 13 links and 589 end links; the clasp is stamped "W8" indicating it is from 1995.The bracelet is in overall great condition with signs of normal wear and scratches.
The distinctive Tudor Oysterdate ref. 7159 - aka Tudor Montecarlo - hails from the brand's second generation of chronographs, produced between 1971 and 1977. The 71XX series had the same case as the first chronographs produced by Tudor but with a then-new hand-wound Valjoux caliber 234 movement with improved accuracy and a better chronograph mechanism. That series produced three different watches, including the ref. 7159 with a satin stainless steel tachymeter bezel calibrated to 500 kilometers and a grey and orange dial for sale here. The other two were references 7149 with a black plexiglass bezel and ref. 7169 with a rotatable bezel.
The name "Montecarlo" was inspired by the unique design of the chronograph registers, which many Tudor enthusiasts will tell you look similar to casino roulette wheels. On this model, each register is framed in sharp black against the grey dial for optimal legibility. It also sports a bright orange 60-minute track, a matching orange seconds hand, and the date and accompanying Cyclops magnifier at 6 o'clock. These models are fascinating alternatives to the Daytona produced by Tudor's parent company, Rolex, because they have a slightly larger case (compared to the 37mm Daytona) and a much more approachable price point.
Watch received is in exact condition what Bob's customer service told me via email so I'm overall satisfied. I had it for 2 days now and it's running smoothly and relatively accurately for a watch twice my age. This is my entry to vintage and so far, I'm loving it. Looking forward to owning and wearing it more in the future. As for the service, the customer service was quick to respond, and the overall processing/shipping was ideal. This is also my first time buying a watch online, and I'm grateful for the good experience Bob's gave me so far.
Bob's watches is my go to for pre owned Rolex and Tudor. This 79260 "Tiger Tudor is an amazing watch which in my opinion is just as good as if not better than the bigger brother Rolex Daytona for several reasons. The price for a watch made by the same parent company with the same design, style and craftmanship. The Tudor model comes with the date complication which is a big plus. I was very happy with my purchase and watch came securely boxed and was very happy to see that physical condition of this beautiful watch.
Watch looks brand new. Its working perfectly. It came with all original documents, box, etc. I considered a extremely good deal since it offers all of the same features the Rolex Daytona plus the date at 3 o'clock.
