Worn by world leaders and the rich and famous, The Rolex Day-Date is one of the most iconic and collectable timepieces on the planet. Because of its rich history and tremendous value, many Rolex and luxury timepiece enthusiasts view this watch as the 'holy grail' watch they would love to add to their own watch box. Plus, what is especially advantageous for you as a seller is that many collectors turn to the secondary market to buy a Day-Date because they can get great prices, compared to retail.
With many buyers leaning towards the secondary market, this strong demand allows us to give you the best, full value for your pre-owned Day-Date. When you want to sell your Rolex for the best price contract Bob's Watches. And because we are dedicated to transparency and fair pricing, we want to lay out everything you need to know about selling your Rolex Day-Date to Bob’s Watches.
On this page, you will find everything you need to know about our complimentary appraisals, safe processes, and how we are able to secure you the best price on the market. We've also taken the time to give you key information about Day-Dates, from finding your reference number to learning more about your watch’s key features. This is because at Bob's, we believe in having a totally transparent process that allows you to not only get the best price, but better understand the value of the watch you have.
The Rolex Day-Date isn't just valuable because it is forged out of the world’s finest alloys and features a sophisticated movement. The rich history of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date also enhances its value. Released in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date was the first wristwatch in the world to feature both a date and day of the week window on the dial where the complete name of the day was written out. Alongside the release of the watch, Rolex also introduced the brand new, elegant 3-link bracelet dubbed the President. Together, these fine materials and rich history make the Day-Date a valuable timepiece.
Today if you were to walk into a Rolex boutique, the starting price of a Day-Date would be $33,150 at retail. Depending on the alloys and materials used, as well as details like sapphires or diamonds, the price only goes up. However, on the pre-owned market, the price of used Day-Date watches starts at around $10,000 for older models and increases from there depending on age, materials, configuration, and overall condition. Because we are dedicated to transparency, we always list the buy and sell price of our Rolex's on our website. To give you an idea of what your Day-Date may be worth, you can use this guide below which outlines some of the different Day-Date reference numbers and second hand pricing. This is a great starting point to understand the value of your Rolex and start the appraisal process with Bob's Watches.

There are some key features to a Rolex Day-Date that can affect and raise its value. Here, we are listing some of the most prominent, unique and desirable key features from the Day-Date over the years that may play into your watches unique appraisal. We hope you can use this as a guide as you begin to learn more about the value of your Day-Date, because our team always believes an educated seller is the best kind of seller there is.
As previously mentioned, Rolex has only forged the Rolex Day-Date out of precious metals. This includes 18k yellow gold, 18k white gold, 18k Everose gold, and 950 platinum. Interestingly, many contemporary Rolex Day-Date watches actually contain more gold than their vintage counterparts, which often raises their value.Unlike other Rolex watches, there has never been a Day-Date model forged out of 904L Stainless steel, which intrinsically raises the value of the Day-Date. On top of that, there are an array of different Day-Date editions available with diamonds and other precious stones, which also raise the price of a Rolex Day-Date.
The Rolex Day-Date is traditionally 36mm. However, to satisfy collector demand for a larger watch, in 2008 Rolex introduced the 41mm case with the Day-Date II. This new sizing, which abandoned some of the proportions that had defined the model for over a half century, was now bulkier and even appeared sportier. However, Rolex eventually killed production of the Day-Date II and in 2015 introduced the Day-Date 40 which featured a slightly smaller 40mm case, but retained the classic, beloved proportions of the original 36mm model, for a more refined look. With the Day-Date II only lasting a few years and being more modern, these watches can be collectable. There was also the introduction of a special edition 39mm Rolex Day-Date which some collectors desire, as well. Today, the contemporary 40mm Day-Date watches also do quite well on the second hand market because of their larger size and classic aesthetic. However no matter the size, all of the cases are Oyster cases featuring a Twinlock double waterproofness system. This patented Rolex system system includes a screw-down Twinlock winding crown with two sealed zones and the hermetically screwed caseback, which together provide optimal protection against water and dust.
Over the years the Day-Date has featured some of the most luxurious and diverse dial styles, ranging from traditional champagne and silver to exotic materials like mother-of-pearl, meteorite, malachite, lapis lazuli, coral, onyx, burl wood, and more.
In terms of notable vintage dials, in the 1970s Rolex introduced some vibrant lacquer Day-Date dial design styles which eventually got the moniker of "Stella" dials. Over the years there have also been many diamond-paved dials and diamond set dials in the Rolex President collection. Some of the most notable have been the ‘textured’ dials — like the linen-style, pyramid-style, and Morellis finish which can be quite valuable and desirable with collectors.
In more modern history, like with the introduction of the Day-Date 40m, Rolex also introduced a laser etching technique which gave the dial unique styles like criss-cross, striped and quadrant that even change in different lighting. Rolex also added concentric gradient patterns to their new Day-Date 36 models in 2019 as well as a green and brown ombre dials which were outfitted with diamond hour markers.
With the wide variety of dial options Rolex Day-Date dials also feature an array of index styles that range from Arabic and Roman numeral to diamonds and stick indexes. There are some Rolex President watches that don’t have indexes, like those with dials that are outfitted in diamonds or are crafted out of onyx or opal. The addition of diamonds or stones for the dial indexes can add value to the watch.
Additionally, the ‘Day’ part of the Rolex Day-Date is available in 26 different languages, allowing owners to have a bespoke day display and emphasizing the Rolex President's global appeal.
Naturally, the bracelet style that is most associated with the Rolex Day-Date is the namesake President bracelet. Beloved for its three-link, semi-circular configuration, the President bracelet is forged out of the same metal (gold or platinum) as the case. This bracelet is special because — except for a few precious metal Lady-Datejust models — is exclusively used with the Day-Date collection. That drives up the price of the Day-Date, often making models with the President band more desirable. However, Rolex has also fitted the Day-Date watch with other bracelet styles over the years including precious metal Oyster and Pearlmaster bracelets as well as leather bands. It’s important to note that alone, the added precious metal from the Oyster and Pearlmaster bracelets, can add more value than the leather bands. Additionally, certain Day-Date watches like those that are heavily gem-set or Oysterquartz Day-Date models have been outfitted with other bracelet styles. But, this is the exception and not the norm.

Below, we are answering the top questions that people have about selling their Rolex President Day-Date. Our experts have carefully laid out all of the answers to your most pressing questions, but if there is something you're still wondering about, we suggest giving our experts a call at (800) 376-7430. When you call, we can provide an initial appraisal over the phone as well as answer any additional questions you have about selling your Rolex President Day-Date.
Q: What is a Rolex Day-Date? A: While many collectors may know they have a Day-Date, sometimes people inherit a valuable Day-Date or buy one without knowing it. The Day-Date, also known as the President, is Rolex's flagship collection of classically styled timepieces crafted from precious metals. The Rolex Day-Date is characterized by the two windows on the dial, the first located at the 3 o'clock location displaying the numerical date of the month. The second window displays the day of the week spelled out in full, and in a variety of different languages, in an arc-shaped window at 12 o'clock.
Q: Where can I find the reference number of my Day-Date?
A: You can find the serial number of your Rolex Day-Date between the lugs on the side of the case at the 6 o’clock side, behind the bracelet. The reference number will be between 4-8 digits and it is engraved by Rolex on all of their watches so that they can be authenticated and used to determine its production date. In 2005, Rolex began engraving the serial number on the inside flange (or “rehaut” as it’s called in French) between the dial and the crystal. Starting in 2008, the Company began to only engrave the numbers on the rehaut.
Q: What else do I need in order to sell my Day-Date?
A: Any documents that you are able to provide, such as sales receipts, warranty papers, and service records are incredibly helpful because they provide a history of the watch and can help verify its authenticity. Another great thing to include with the sale of your Day-Date are the original box and papers that it came with, if you still have them. These original documents let the buyer know that your timepiece is genuine and usually increases the price of your watch.
Finally, if you still have any of the original parts of your Day-Date — like spare bracelet links — these can be very valuable to potential Rolex buyers. Providing as many of the original parts as possible can actually increase your odds selling your Day-Date.
Q: Does the Rolex President Day-Date hold value?
A: The Rolex Day-Date is a valuable watch. Forged only out of precious metals, like gold and platinum, this watch inherently holds great value on the secondary market. This is because as the price of gold or platinum goes up, the value of a Rolex Day-Date can increase too. It is also important to note that for many contemporary Rolex Day-Date watches, they actually contain more gold than their vintage counterparts which often raises their value.
When it comes to determining value for Rolex President Day-Date watches, they can start just below $10,000 for older models and can quickly increase from there. Factors that affect the price of the Day-Date include the case size, reference, dial style, bezel style and overall condition.
Q: How much does a Rolex Day-Date cost?A: Today, the retail price of a Rolex Day-Date starts out at $33,150. However, you can purchase a pre-owned Rolex Day-Date starting out around, or just below, $10,000 on the secondary market. The price of a Rolex President Day-Date varies based on factors like reference number, production year, condition and more. You can start your totally free appraisal process for your Day-Date by filling in our form above or giving us a call right now at (800) 376-7430 to speak to one of our specialists.
Q: Does Rolex lose value?A: We like to say that buying a watch is like buying a car. The moment you buy a watch on the retail market and walk out of the store with it, it depreciates in value. However, because Rolex watches are some of the most exclusive and collectable in the world, they tend to hold good value. Additionally, the value of a Rolex watch can rise again after you purchase it on the retail market. Factors like rarity, provenance, reference number and vintage-status can help your Rolex hold or increase in value over time.
Q: How do I find the value of my Rolex Day-Date?
A: The first thing to do is find the reference number of your Day-Date. Then, you can plug that reference number into our website’s search bar. If we currently have this model for sale, you can see both the price we are selling it for as well as what we will buy it for — this is part of our industry-leading Rolex Exchange.
While this is a great way to get an idea for the value of your Day-Date, at Bob’s Watches we always recommend getting a professional valuation on your specific model. We can do this over the phone, as well as provide a complete appraisal once you send your Rolex to us as part of our buying program.
Q: Why are Rolex so expensive?A: Rolex watches are forged out of exceptionally expensive alloys with meticulous care and some of the finest mechanisms in the industry. The cost of the materials alongside the specialized care in making Rolex watches influence the price. Rolex is also the most famous brand in the world, helping the brand ask a premium for their craftsmanship and precision.
Q: Is the Rolex Day-Date solid gold?
A: The Rolex Day-Date, aka the President, is always forged out of precious metals - that means gold or platinum. These precious metals are used for both the case and the bracelet of the Day-Date watch. If you have a white, yellow or Everose gold Day-Date watch, it is forged out of 18k gold. The only other metal the Day-Date is forged out of is platinum. You will never find the President forged out of stainless steel.
Q: Why are Rolexes called oyster?A: Oyster refers to the type of case used in a Rolex watch. The official name of the President, for example, is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date, because it also uses this case. The Oyster case used by Rolex is their most popular case, and when it was released in 1926, was the world’s first waterproof wristwatch case. The Rolex Oyster case features a patented screw down bezel, case back and winding crown system that keeps the watch face and mechanism safe and running properly even underwater.
Q: Who wears the Rolex President Day-Date?
A: Living up to its famous nickname, the Day-Date has been worn by more presidents, leaders, visionaries and Hollywood stars than any other watch. Some of the notable names that have worn the President include:
President JFK (gifted by Marilyn Monroe)
President Lyndon B. Johnson
Warren BuffetJustin Timberlake
Nicolas Cage
Kylie Jenner
Jennifer Anniston
Justin Theroux
Jack Nicklaus
Jay Z
Tony Soprano (played by James Gandolfini)

We serve the following cities for those looking or searching to sell Rolex watches for the best prices:
Whether at a location near you or online, there are several ways that you can sell Rolex watches. But some are better than others. Pawn shops and jewelry stores near you will always offer you very low prices for your Rolex watch. This is because of their high overheads and lack of knowledge needed to properly value Rolex watches. Online can offer you better prices, but you must be weary of the website you choose. Craigslist can certainly be dangerous since you have to meet up with a complete stranger with an expensive timepiece in hand. eBay unfortunately doesn’t do enough to protect the sellers and almost always takes the side of the buyer when conflicts arise. This means you could end up with a returned (and damaged) Rolex without any reimbursement whatsoever.
Bob's Watches, on the other hand, is an online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling Rolex watches. As the premier online destination for pre-owned Rolex watches, we boast a team of Rolex trained watchmakers and Rolex specialists to ensure a smooth process when buying from or selling to Bob’s Watches.
Selling your Rolex watch to Bob's Watches is simple. You can either request a free quote through our Free Instant Quote Request Form on our website, or give us a call at (800) 376-7430 and one of our Rolex specialists will give you a quote over the phone.
If you agree to the quote, we will send you a pre-paid and insured shipping label. Carefully package up your Rolex watch, stick the label on the box, and drop it off at your nearest FedEx location.
Once we receive your timepiece, one of our in-house Rolex experts will conduct an inspection (recorded on video) to confirm that everything matches up with the received description. You'll then receive a call from us to confirm the price along with options on how you'd like to get paid. Whether you decide to get paid by check or same-day wire transfer, Bob's Watches is proud to offer the best prices and fastest payment methods to those who sell us their Rolex watches.

If you want the best possible price for your watch, take advantage of our safe, secure, and easy to use process and sell your Rolex to Bob’s Watches.
There are many reasons as to why someone may choose to sell their Rolex. Maybe you currently sport a Submariner 16610 on your wrist and you’re ready to upgrade to a 6-digit Cerachrom model. Or maybe you’ve finally spotted your grail watch and need to make room in your collection. Whatever the reason, pre-owned Rolex watches are in high demand, making it easier than ever before to sell your Rolex. Rolex watches are also popular milestone gifts and are highly sought after purchases for graduations, work anniversaries, and retirements. Rolex timepieces are popular year-round, however, selling your Rolex during a time of year when the demand is high, such as Christmas or graduation season, ensures that you will receive the best possible price.
The more information that you are able to provide when selling your Rolex timepiece, the better. A good place to start is by locating your watch’s serial and model numbers. This provides the buyer with important information needed to price your watch. Any other documents that you are able to provide, such as sales receipts, warranty papers, and service records are also incredibly helpful as they provide a history of the watch and can help verify its authenticity. The original box and papers can be very valuable in their own right. They let the buyer know that your timepiece is genuine and increase the price that you may receive for your watch. It’s becoming increasingly common for buyers to require the original box and papers upon selling your used Rolex, so be sure to keep them in a safe place upon purchasing any Rolex timepieces. Providing these items when selling your Rolex ensures you will receive the highest asking price. Finally, any original parts that you have, such as spare bracelet links, can prove to be very valuable to potential Rolex buyers. Providing as many of the original parts as possible increases your odds of a highly successful sale.

Rolex sells over $4 billion dollars each year in new watches making it by far the largest luxury watch seller in the world. That said, it should come as no surprise that the pre-owned Rolex watch ( or used Rolex watch ) market is exponentially larger. Some industry analysts claim the market is over $100 billion dollars and growing. This helps explain why “sell my Rolex” is one of the most popular searched terms in Google and other search engines.
Additionally, Rolex is always developing and launching new fashionable watch models each year like the new Rolex Datejust II and the new Rolex Submariner with a Ceramic Bezel. This new found demand leaves existing Rolex customers asking where can I sell my Rolex (they love our Rolex serial numbers database lookup by the way), or trade it in so I can purchase this new one.
Bob’s makes it simple and safe for sellers with its new mail in watch selling program. So if you are inquiring about selling a Rolex watch and want the best price possible, choose Bob’s Watches. We make it easy and efficient to sell your Rolex for the highest market value in a totally transparent environment. Find the value of a Rolex watch by simply submitting the form above.
Whether you are a knowledgeable Rolex collector or new to the industry, you have arrived at the best place to sell Rolex watches. The Pre-Owned Rolex Exchange at www.BobsWatches.com allows you to buy, sell, and trade at published market prices. Check out our "buy" and "sell" prices right here online.
As one of the Nation's leading online retailer of pre-owned Rolex watches, we get many calls each day from people who are looking to "sell a Rolex", "sell my Rolex", "selling a Rolex watch", or even "how to sell my Rolex watch". Selling a pre-owned Rolex watch can seem like there is no easy solution. Where do you sell, what is it worth, and who can I trust are just some of the questions that sellers seem to wrestle with.
Often times, because of our hectic, fast paced lifestyles, it's often easier to just leave it in the top dresser draw or the safety deposit box. Most Rolex watch owners, Rolex Submariner owners in particular, are higher net worth folks whose time is valuable. So here at Bob's, we have kept that in mind when we developed a sell Rolex program for owners who want to either sell or trade for a different model. Here are a few of the main choices for people looking to sell Rolex watch models:
Listing an item like a Rolex watch on ebay is not an easy solution. First off, you need an established ebay account and PayPal that most private sellers do not have. More importantly, most private sellers are not experienced on how to list the item, how to price it, and then hassle with collecting the money from potentially unethical buyers.
Craigslist: Even if you did know the correct price to sell the watch, do you really want buyers coming to your home to buy your watch?
Local Jewelers: While this is sometimes a fair option for sellers, most regular jewelers will not know the up to date current market value of the watch and will not have the efficient sell marketplace to resell the item. For these reasons, it is unlikely you will receive the best price for your pre-owned Rolex with this option.
Bob's Watches: One of the primary reasons we founded Bob's Watches was to establish an efficient marketplace with a trusted buyer and seller. Since there was such a void in the markeplace for this service, we have enjoyed remarkable success by providing better value for the seller and for the buyer as well. Most people looking to sell Rolex watches just want to know what is it worth and what is a fair price I can get for it.
That is precisely why at Bob's Watches, we show you the price we are buying it for and selling it for right there in black and white. So if you too are asking yourself, where can i sell my Rolex watch for the best price, then call Bob's Watches toll free at 800-494-3708. We make selling Rolex timepieces easy and convenient while still paying you the full market value for your wristwatch.
Simple. You will get full fair market value at prices you can see:
Unlike other watch dealers that sell multiple brands of watches, Bob's Watches only buys and sells Rolex, so you can rest assured that you will be buying and or selling at up to the market valuations. Our inventory offers customers deep and diverse collections that changes daily.
So whether you are searching to sell a Men's Rolex submariner, or to sell a Ladies Yachtmaster, we are confident you will find our prices and assortment among the best in the business. Be sure to check back daily as new inventory is added constantly.

Once you submit your form we will appraise your watch and call you back or email you within 24 hours with an estimate. If you agree with your estimate we give you instructions on how to ship your watch to us and once we receive it we will promptly send you your money. With this understanding we can give you some of these most competitive prices to sell Rolex sporting watches.
Our goal is to be the middleman between buyers and sellers of Rolex luxury watches; people who no longer need their watch and people who want a new watch. We buy watches from the public, mark them up minimally and sell them back to the public. We basically recycle by selling and buying from the public.
Whether you want to buy or sell Rolex timepieces you can come to the same place Bob’s Watches, the Rolex Exchange and in this way we make the whole process as simple as possible. So if you are searching to sell your Rolex, deal direct with Bob's Watches for the best value whether you are buying or selling.
The most common question we get at Bob's Watches is, "How do I sell you my Rolex Watch?" or "How hard is the process of selling my Rolex to you?". We know it is easy, but to show you how simple it all really is we made a one minute, full-proof 5 step video that shows you how to sell your Rolex to Bob's Watches.
So Easy! Our goal is to make this whole process as pain free as possible. For more information about how to buy or sell with us, visit our How it Works page, or call 800-494-3708.
Unlike used cars or used computers, used Rolex watches have no set expiration period. Rolex models are built to last and can last you a lot more than 200,000 miles that is why the used market is extremely large. These watches can last for decades and are made with the finest Swiss craftsmanship.
Buying a Rolex brand new can be a very expensive endeavor, and this is why pre-owned models are so popular. They offer the same quality and sustainability of a Rolex watch without as big of a price tag (in most cases).
In addition to this, Rolex has the amazing ability to retain value. This offers our customers a unique opportunity. That is the opportunity to buy a watch from us, the Rolex Exchange, and wear it for a couple years keeping it in good condition, and then sell it back to us for a few hundred dollars less than they bought it. In this our customers are able to get all of the enjoyment out of wearing a Rolex Daytona or Rolex Submariner, and only end up spending a couple hundred dollars.

All of this used to be reserved only for the extremely rich or powerful, but now with the help of Bob's Watches you can buy these amazing watches for a lot less than you think.

Rolex watches are a truly amazing product. While they are very expensive they last pretty much forever if you take care of them and are therefore a pretty good investment. Rolex sells thousands of new watches through their Authorized Dealers all over the world and the fact that Rolex do last such a long time allows for a huge secondary market.
When you buy a Rolex, it is not a one owner watch, whether you pass it down to your children and grandchildren or sell it to another person, they usually last through multiple generations. This also allows the values to be very high and if you need money or, just don’t really want or use it you can sell Rolex brand watches to us at Bob’s Watches for great prices.
Our goal at Bob’s Watches is to essentially “pinch” the market. What this means is that we make the margin between how much we buy a watch for and how much we sell it for a lot lower and we even publicly display these two prices on the website. This allows us to buy watches for more than our competitors and sell them for less.
Often people come to us and ask to sell their watch and upon receiving the price are astounded because many other online retailers sell Rolex for around a thousand dollars more than what we offered. Why this happens is these retailers run on huge margins of thousands of dollars between how much they buy and sell a watch for and so how much they sell the watch for is really a bloated view of how much it is really worth. When you sell Rolexes to Bob's Watches you get the true value.
We have found this to be an unfair and underhanded practice and so we have tried to make our business transparent by allowing our users to see how much we buy a watch for and how much we sell it for right on the site. With this information they can know that the prices we give to sell Rolex watches to us are fair.
At Bob’s Watches you can sell Rolex watches of any kind. From Milgauss to Submariner, from brand new in box to 30 years old, from pre-owned/used to unworn we buy everything and we understand that they each have their own specific value that fluctuates with the pre-owned Rolex market.
Bob’s will give you the full market value of your watch if you decide to sell Rolex models to us. We have an extensive price list that offers baseline prices for all the watches and we work from there factoring in current market conditions and inventory spikes and slopes as well as any special features your watch may have like a diamond dial or bezel. We know the added value these features add to your watch whether they are aftermarket or factory.
We are located in Southern California, but we buy watches from all over the world. How we do this is actually quite simple and allows for reassurance on your end in addition to getting you your money as quickly as possible. This all starts out with you receiving a estimate of your watches value from us. You can do this by giving us a call at 1 (800) 494-3708 or submitting a sell Rolex form on our website.
Once you receive the estimate and agree with it we will send you a mailer box with tracking info for you to track the box as it is delivered to us. Within an hour of our receipt of the box we will give you our exact price on your watch, which, if you described the watch accurately to us should be around the estimate we gave you.
At this point you have two options, you can agree with the price and we will overnight you a check or wire you the money, or if you no longer agree or just decided not to sell your watch we will overnight your watch back to you and you will have it the next day. You can have confidence knowing your watch is safe with insurance from the USPS.
So if you found us by Google searching “sell Rolex for cash” or “sell Rolex fast” please fill out the simple for to your left or give us a call for a free quote. We’d be more than happy to help you out no matter your situation or question.
