The first GMT Master II debuted in the early 1980's with reference 16760. Unlike the GMT Masters that preceded it, the reference 16760 boasted a newly independent 24-hour hand on the dial. This meant that the wearer could adjust the 24-hour hand without disturbing the current time. Also referred to as the "Sophia Loren" or the "Fat Lady", the GMT Master II 16760 boasts a thicker case that was meant to better accommodate the refined movement. This particular men's reference pairs the 40mm Oyster case with a matching stainless steel Oyster bracelet and Oysterlock clasp. A red and blue Pepsi bezel offers dual time capabilities for optimal timekeeping while traveling. This ref. 16760 also boasts a dial topped with creamy patina lume, a highly desirable feature among avid Rolex collectors.
