This two-tone GMT-Master is in great vintage condition with wear consistent with age. The case is in good condition with normal signs of wear. The inside caseback is stamped "1675." The serial and reference numbers are clearly visible between the lugs. The bezel is in great condition with light wear; it's a later replacement. The dial is overall great condition; it is a “Swiss only” service replacement with Luminova luminous material. The hands and hour markers have developed light patina. The hands are Luminova service replacements as well. This watch has a two-tone jubilee 62523 bracelet with 20 links and no. 450 end links. The clasp is stamped "OP 6" indicating it is from 2006. The bracelet is in overall great condition with some wear and stretch between the links which isn't uncommon.
Pre-owned Rolex GMT Master ref 16753 (1979) was the last two-tone model before Rolex introduced the GMT Master II in the 1980s. The most notable difference between this model and its successors is that it doesn't have an independently operating GMT hand and can only display two time zones - one via the dial and the other via the bezel. This generation is powered by the caliber 3075 with hacking seconds and a Quickset date and features a vintage acrylic crystal instead of modern sapphire. Many collectors are after this watch for its unique and inherently vintage design elements and its place in Rolex history.
It was very common for Rolex to change and update watches when they come in for routine service and that is exactly what happened to this GMT. These "all serviced up" examples offer a great value and are ideal for daily wearers. This one with the "Swiss only" dial will still glow in the dark because of the Luminova luminous material used. These offer the perfect blend of modern and vintage all wrapped into one.
