Super Bowl: Atlanta Falcons
Believe it or not, we’re just a few days away from Super Bowl LI! On Sunday, most eyes in the nation will be on Houston, Texas where the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots will play for the Vince Lombardi Trophy. A day full of fanfare, Super Bowl is not just about football, but also the halftime show and the equally entertaining commercials. How much are 30-second spots going for this year? A whopping $5.02million. And Lady Gaga will be headlining at halftime.
While four-time Super Bowl champs the New England Patriots are 3-point favorites over the Atlanta Falcons to win, the Falcons’ motto, “Rise Up”, is certainly rallying the fans and fueling their hopes of victory. As the players, coaches, and fans get ready for Sunday, we take a look at some Rolex watches of the Atlanta Falcons.
Quarterback Matt Ryan

Quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, Matt Ryan, is certainly having his moment right now. Although the origins of his famous nickname, Matty Ice, are a little murky, it’s one that has stuck. Another nickname that has stuck is the one given to his Rolex of choice—the Kermit. Due to its bright green bezel, the Rolex Submariner ref. 16610LV is often named after the famous green frog.
That Submariner made its debut in 2004 to mark the 50th anniversary of Rolex’s diving watch collection. It addition to its green unidirectional rotatable diver’s bezel, the ref. 16610LV sports a black dial, 40mm steel case, and steel Oyster bracelet. Even though this particular model has since been discontinued, it remains a popular Rolex sports watch.
Wide Reciever Julio Jones

There may have been many raised eyebrows when the Atlanta Falcons gave up five picks to move up 21 spots in order to draft receiver Julio Jones in 2011, but it turned out to be a fantastic decision. And Julio, aka Jet, Jones is laughing all the way to the NRG Stadium. Regardless of his strained toe, Jet Jones says he’s “full-go” for Sunday. Moving away from his foot, we couldn’t help notice that his wrist is full Rolex. An Everose gold Rolex Sky-Dweller ref. 326935 to be exact.
The newest and one of the most complex Rolex timepieces to date, the Sky-Dweller is a big statement watch. Sized at 42mm, the ref. 326935 is crafted entirely in Rolex’s patented rose gold alloy, dubbed Everose. On the dial of the Sky-Dweller is a range of practical functions. Aside from the center hour, minute, and seconds hands, the Sky-Dweller boasts a second-time zone, an annual calendar, and month indicator.
Running back Devonta Freeman

Considered one the best running backs in NFL right now, Devonta Freeman looks like he’s having the time of his life. While there’s plenty chatter about his contract after his recent agent said, “It’s time for the Falcons to pay him like the elite back he is,” Devonta Freeman’s focus is on his next game. But if he does get that big payday, he could indulge in yet another luxury watch to go with the Rolex President he always has on.
Devonta Freeman’s President is a yellow gold model, and while we can’t be certain, we assume it’s a Day-Date II judging by its size. The Day-Date II measures 41mm, which is substantially larger than the traditional 36mm Day-Date. Despite Rolex moving the Day-Date II aside for the new Day-Date 40, the 41mm President is still a popular luxury dress watch in the secondary market.
Irrespective of which team you’ll be supporting this Super Bowl Sunday, it’s going to be an explosive game. Patriots or Falcons? Matt Ryan or Tom Brady? Who’s your pick?
