We love a two-tone bracelet here at Bob’s Watches because you get the best of both worlds – stainless steel for durability with gold for elegance and a hint of glamor. Paired with the blue face and matching blue ceramic bezel, this Rolex Submariner ref. 116613LB is a stylish and fun head-turner. This is the kind of watch you can get away with wearing to the office, that will also stand the test of time enduring all your seafaring adventures. Inside ticks an automatic cal. 3135, protected by a case and crystal that provide it with a whopping 300 meters of water resistance.
However, this watch is also an important piece of Submariner history with its evolutionary design. You see, while the preceding Submariner ref. 16613 also boasted a 40mm case, the Submariner ref. 116613LB wears noticeably larger on the wrist thanks to its fatter lugs, wide bezel and thicker crown guards that make up the ‘super case.’ Look closely and you’ll also notice this enlarged case has bigger lume plots on the early-production flat blue dial. It’s also important to know that in 2020, Rolex discontinued the 40mm Submariner and replaced it with 41mm cases, so the ref. 116613LB is the last 40mm ‘Bluesy’ made of its size.

While the moniker for this famous Submariner edition might reference a muppet, the stunning green rotating bezel is actually a special edition model to celebrate the watch’s 50th anniversary. Obviously, the green sets it apart, but the Submariner 16610LV also features a unique “Maxi” dial with larger hour markers. This watch was released in the early 2000s, and the only way to get ahold of one now is on the pre-owned market. They are already selling for significantly more than they did when they were first released, so if this is a watch you’re looking to add to your collection, now is the time to jump on the deal.
What else makes this watch special? Well, the Rolex ‘Kermit’ Submariner ref. 16610LV was the first time a stainless steel Submariner featured any color other than black. It was also the first time that the company’s signature green color appeared in the iconic line. Do note: this bezel was made out of aluminum which has been known to fade. However, it hasn’t seemed to deter collectors from this unique piece of Rolex history.

When Rolex decided to update the GMT-Master in the mid-2000s, their new models, like this Rolesor (two-tone) ref. 116713, became instant classics. Featuring a new automatic cal. 3186 movement, new case, re-designed bracelet, upgraded Cerachrom bezel, that killer green 24-hour hand, and a modern black Maxi dial – this stainless and gold GMT-Master II is just insanely handsome. It’s one of the most sought-after, modern pre-owned watches today, and since Baselworld 2019, Rolex is only making two-tone GMT-Master II watches with Everose pink gold (no yellow gold options exist). So, don’t let this one pass by without a second glance!
Plus when it comes to pre-owned GMT-Master II watches, this one is a collector’s favorite. For one, collectors love the larger ‘super case’ and ‘maxi dial’ thanks to its broader lugs and a dial topped with larger luminous hour markers and broader hands. Do note: the case itself is still 40mm. What also makes this particular model stand out is its movement, a COSC-certified Caliber 3186, which was the last of the 31xx series movements, before Rolex switched to the Cal. 3285 on the subsequent generation of the GMT-Master II.
