The Met Gala is easily one of the top fashion highlights of the year, with many of the world’s top celebrities showing up in truly head-turning attire that you simply won’t see at any other red carpet event. No star-studded evening is complete without some proper watch-spotting and just as you might imagine, there were a number of noteworthy pre-owned luxury watches that could be seen on the wrists of the attending celebrities.
The Met Gala is a fundraising event that benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, and it marks the opening of the institute’s annual fashion exhibit. Each year’s Met Gala celebrates the theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition, and guests are expected to choose their fashion for the evening to match the theme. Instead of the emphasis being on simply looking elegant or flattering, dressing for the Met Gala is really more about fully embracing the theme for the exhibition, and this year’s theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” So, what luxury watches did the attending celebrities choose to wear for the event?

Award-winning actor, comedian, and television host Jimmy Fallon is definitely a fan of luxury watches and he has been spotted wearing everything from Rolex and Patek Philippe to Bremond and A. Lange & Söhne. As far as we know, Fallon is not an official Omega brand ambassador; however, it certainly seems that the historic Swiss watch manufacturer was his timepiece of choice for this year’s Met Gala.
Those with a keen eye will have spotted a vintage Omega Speedmaster Mark II on Jimmy Fallon’s wrist throughout the evening. According to Omega, Fallon’s Speedy is from 1972 and it is immediately identifiable as one of the Mark II references due to its unique barrel-shaped case. First launched in 1969, the Mark II represents the first major redesign of Omega’s iconic chronograph, and it also holds the distinction of being the very first Speedmaster reference to not use a Hesalite crystal. The classic Omega Moonwatch is an undisputed icon of horology, but the Speedmaster Mark II is a significantly less-obvious choice, and it serves as a fairly good indicator that Jimmy Fallon is a true watch enthusiast.

As one of Omega’s official brand ambassadors, it is no surprise that American model and actress Kaia Gerber was wearing several different pieces from the brand at this year’s Met Gala. Although Omega is best known for its iconic Swiss-made luxury watches, the historic manufacturer also produces a range of jewelry items, including rings, bracelets, charms, earrings, and pendants. To complete her look for the evening, Gerber chose a pair of diamond-set Omega Aqua Swing earrings and a diamond Dewdrop ring, both in 18k white gold.
However, when it comes to her Omega watch, Kaia Gerber opted for an elegant model from the De Ville Prestige line that features a 27.4mm stainless steel case with a diamond-paved bezel. At the heart of Gerber’s watch is a black lacquer dial with diamond-set hour markers, while the quartz Omega Caliber 4061 movement powers a leaf-shaped pair of rhodium-plated hands. Completing Gerber’s Omega De Ville Prestige is a timeless and elegant black leather strap that perfectly matched her stunning black Oscar de la Renta gown.

American professional track and field athlete Noah Lyles is another Omega brand ambassador that was in attendance at this year’s Met Gala. Specializing in sprints, Lyles’ most recent achievement is earning a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with an official time of 19.74 seconds in the 200-meter men’s final. However, while it was a bronze medal that he took home at this year’s Olympics, it was a solid 18k yellow gold Omega Constellation Co-Axial Master Chronometer that could be spotted on Lyles’ wrist throughout the event.
Noah Lyles’ Omega Constellation is one of the 39mm models from the current collection that follows the same general format as the original Constellation Manhattan model from the 1980s. Fitted with a matching solid gold bracelet, Lyles’ Constellation is certainly among the premium configurations available and as it is one of the full-gold models, it is powered by the Co-Axial Caliber 8801 movement, which features an 18k Sedna gold rotor and boasts METAS Master Chronometer Certification. Additionally, Lyles’ specific example is fitted with a silvery white dial with yellow gold hour markers that perfectly matched the all-white suit by Pyer Moss that he was wearing at the event.

Closing out this year’s Met Gala with a surprise performance was Canadian singer Justin Bieber, who returned to the stage after a three-year hiatus to perform four of his biggest hits for those in attendance. Just a few days ago, Bieber won Artist of the Year at MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMAs), and he continued to ride the momentum into his performance at his first-ever Met Gala appearance with his wife Hailey Baldwin.
Although the Met Gala is typically an event where celebrities push the boundaries with their outfits, Justin Bieber opted for a more pared-back look, wearing a black suit by La Maison Drew. However, despite his somewhat traditional and classic wardrobe, Bieber did go all-out when it came to his watch, selecting a solid 18k yellow gold Rolex Daytona with a champagne dial and matching gold Oyster bracelet. Between its gold case, gold bracelet, gold-colored dial, and gold tachymeter bezel, Bieber’s watch is just about the most-gold Daytona available, and the understated nature of the rest of this outfit really allowed this statement-worthy Rolex to take center stage.
