Watch Roundup: Take Your Pick From These 41mm Watches

Paul Altieri

Not that long ago, 41mm watches were considered enormous. However, that is certainly not the case today. In fact, a 41mm sized watch case is typical for men’s watches and most luxury brands offer timepieces in that size. While it is no doubt on the larger size—particularly for those with slimmer wrists—41mm watches are still very wearable. Robust without being obnoxious. Here are some of our favorite 41mm watches right now.

IWC Chronograph is a large watch sized at 41mm.

IWC Portugieser Chronograph

With an official size of 40.9mm, we’re going to go ahead and call the IWC Portugieser Chronograph ref. 3714 a 41mm watch. As one of IWC’s best selling models, there is so much to love with the Portugieser Chronograph ref. 3714.

This particular version sports an 18k rose gold case housing a rich black dial with the characteristic duo of registers at 12 and 6 o’clock. The expansive dial, discreet pushers, and slim bezel make the IWC Portugieser Chronograph one elegant chrono to own—positively more dress watch than sports watch. Completing the elegance is a classic brown alligator strap with a matching 18k rose gold tang buckle.

This watch may not be 41mm, but we think it is close enough.

Tudor Heritage Ranger

Like so many other contemporary Tudor watches, the Heritage Ranger takes its design cues from vintage references. Specifically, the Tudor Heritage Ranger ref. 79910 is a modern approach to the vintage Oyster Prince Ranger watches from the 1960s. To bring it up to today’s tastes, Tudor enlarged the case to 41mm but kept much of the dial design the same.

For instance, on the black dial, there are the similar Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock along with stick indexes. Plus, there are the unique shaped hands—one notable difference, however, is today’s red seconds hands rather than the original steel one. For a change of pace, you can switch out the steel Oyster-style bracelet with the accompanying camouflage fabric strap.

The Day-Date II is a watch that looks sporty and dressy.

Rolex Day-Date II

In 2008, Rolex expanded the Day-Date collection with a larger 41mm version dubbed the Day-Date II. A significantly larger edition of the famous 36mm Rolex President watch, the Day-Date II 41mm watch was the answer for those wanting a heftier version of Rolex’s most prestigious dress watch. Not just bigger, the Day-Date II is sportier as well, thanks to its wider bezel and thicker lugs.

The Day-Date II President ref. 218238 is the solid 18k yellow gold version, complete with the characteristic fluted bezel, semi-circular links President bracelet, and a beautifully matching dial. A spectacular status watch, indeed.

This Datejust II also runs at 41mm, a fantastic watch for those who are looking for a dress watch.

Rolex Datejust II

One year after the release of the larger President, Rolex followed it up with the introduction of a larger Datejust too. Also sporting a 41mm Oyster case, the Datejust II follows the same principal of bigger is sometimes better for some.

The Datejust II ref. 116333 41mm watch is the two-tone Rolesor edition, flaunting the signature combination of precious yellow gold and rugged stainless steel. The matte black dial with the black Roman numerals with yellow gold surrounds looks especially sharp.

Offering fantastic wrist presence, we foresee that 41mm watches will continue to be a fan favorite for a long time. Do you like 41mm watches? Which are some of your favorites? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below!
