Pre-owned Patek Philippe Complications ref 5180/1R-001 (2023) is powered by the trailblazing caliber 240, which was released in 1977 and was heralded as being one of the thinnest automatic mechanical movements at the time (2.53mm). Forty years later, in 2017, Patek released the rose gold ref. 5180/1R-001 for sale here (the white gold version was released a decade prior, in 2008.) The movement is a masterclass in haute horology, featuring a completely skeletonized design and intricate hand-engraved decorations, the latter of which takes 130 hours to complete. Among the sea of delicately decorated springs and gears, keen-eyed collectors will notice the brand's Calatrava cross on the winding rotor - a first for the brand. The "dial" is empty, save for two centrally mounted hands, so as not to distract from the movement. Instead of traditional hour markers, the time is displayed via bridges circling the dial's perimeter. Lastly, this rose gold masterpiece is paired with a matching multi-link bracelet with a fold-over clasp.
