Hans Wilsdorf released the Rolex Air-King upon hearing that pilots all over the world favored his altitude-resistant Oyster Perpetual. Its sleek all-steel design is fit for the bravest combat pilots with a 34mm Oyster case, smooth bezel, and matching flat-link Oyster bracelet and Fliplock clasp. The case is carefully designed to withstand depths of up to 330 feet as well as higher altitudes with the addition of a screw-down case back and waterproof screw-down crown. The highlight of this vintage reference 5500, however, is the silver dial set with silver index hour markers, a Rolex coronet at the 12-hour marker, and beautifully aged dauphine hands. The design of the dial is simplistic, with minimal script, including the name "Air-King" written in an elegant font just above the hands.
