With manufacturing starting in 1966, the 1680 model was the first Rolex Submariner model to display the date on the watch. At the beginning of the 1680 production, the 1680 model featured the word “Submariner” in red on the dial, receiving its nickname the “Red Submariner”.
From 1974, the writing on the dial was printed in white with three different versions. Manufactured in 1978, which is confirmed by the serial number, the present watch is a beautiful and very charismatic example. The dial and hands have aged to a very creamy yellow, which gives the watch a nice vintage feel. With the presence of the original guarantee, this is a lovely Submariner and suitable as daily wear. Extremely sporty yet elegant, this robust watch is one of the most recognizable wristwatches of our era.
