Catalog Essay:
Pre-owned Rolex Submariner ref 1680 (Circa 1978) is one of the most sought-after vintage watches on the market. It hails from the legendary Submariner collection, complete with an Oyster case, 60-minute diver's bezel, and self-winding movement. The 1680 also holds a special place in Rolex history as the first Submariner to feature a date mechanism on the dial. Rolex initially made the 1680 with a single line of red text on the dial and would later move to all white text like the example we have here. These "White" 1680s have gained popularity and good ones are becoming harder and harder to find.
This example has aged beautifully over the years from the bezel to the striking custard colored lume, it really pops. Besides the lovely athestic, this watch comes with it's box, punched papers, anchor, etc. When looking closely at the punched papers it has a stamp from where it was sold and it was originally sold at "Tom Sawyer's" in Alaska! This is super cool and we hope the next owner enjoys the watch and all the goodies it comes with.
