Pre-owned Rolex Air-King ref 14000 (1991). The Air-King Dominos is an interesting and now highly sought after Rolex. These were initially given away as prizes for good performance to Dominos franchisees who hit certain sales goals. It is only in the last few years that these Dominos Air-Kings have become sought after by collectors and as a result the values have gone up significantly from where they used to trade. Back in the day these Air-Kings with the Dominos logo's were not very desirable and dealers would actually swap out the dials with standard ones because that made the watch more saleable; oh how times have changed!
This example comes complete with it's box and papers making it even more attractive. The papers are from the Schlanderer and Sons, who were the retailer that Dominos ordered these watches through. When examining the kit we see the papers that mention the silver dial which checks out and this also comes with the serialized hang-tag which is a nice little touch.
In addition to the Dominos logo on the dial, this watch has the Dominos logo on the clasp. It also has the recipients initials on the caseback and $21,057" engraved which was the amount of sales they did to get the watch - this is a detail we haven't seen before! When flipping the outer box over, you can see a little white sticker with the engraving on the caseback, so this must have been the note for the engraver to follow - another super cool little detail we love.
