The first Air-King was introduced to market in 1945 and was a member of the Air Series of watches. This collection of sophisticated pilot's watches was developed by Hans Wilsdorf as a tribute to the pilots of the British Royal Air Force, who were rumored to favor their personal Rolex watches over their military-issued timepieces. The classic Air-King line maintains a modest 34mm Oyster case and features a time-only dial, a flat-link Oyster bracelet, a stainless steel finish, and a nostalgic Air-King logo on the dial. The preowned Rolex 14010 is a handsome example of the line that also features a machine-turned bezel, a matching silver dial, and a calibre 3130 Perpetual movement.
