Rolex Day-Date 40 Ref 228238 18k Yellow Gold
When it debuted in the 1950's, the President Day-Date featured a traditional 36mm Oyster case. Then, in 2008, Rolex released a larger 41mm variation of their iconic luxury watch, only to discontinue it and release the 40mm Day-Date ref. 228238 in 2015. The 40mm Day-Date seems to get the case measurement just right, offering the bold style that modern collectors crave without appearing too ostentatious or in-your-face. While gold Rolex timepieces are anything but subtle, this ref. 228238 seems to exude power and luxurious style in a classy way. As a newer secondhand Rolex, the Day-Date boasts Chromalight baton hour markers on the dial, a sharply fluted bezel, a waterproof Twinlock screw-down crown, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal over the dial, and a next-generation calibre 3255 movement, complete with a Paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers.
